Minecraft Snapshot 13w02b

Get the snapshot here:

Changes 13w02a;

• Textures for blocks and items now have individual image files (read more below)
• Improved death messages
• Improved naming (using the anvil) of containers and mob eggs
• Trapped chests now give off the redstone signal through walls
• Improved hoppers and made them controllable by redstone
• Updated language files
• Language files can now be updated via the background downloader (no need for a new Minecraft release)

jeb_: Minecraft doesn’t have limestone/marble, so take a look at a couple of (milky) quartz block tests instead:

• Many, many fixes!
• Notable: The stitcher should now make sure to create textures that have sizes in powers of two (fixes all-white textures)

Hello again, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.. I hope you drank lots like I did 🙂

We have the fist Snapshot of the year for you here.

Download Minecraft 13w01b;

The changes are as follows (13w01a);

• Redstones circuits are more consistent and pistons should be more stable
• Added the Redstone Comparator block (this replaces the Capacitor we talked about at Minecon)
• Added the Daylight Detector block
• Added a Hopper block (still work in progress)
• Added a chest that activates redstone
• Added weighted pressure plates that detect item stacks
• Added Block of Redstone block (works as a pushable redstone torch)
• Added a new ore to the Nether
• Added a Nether Brick item for crafting Nether Brick blocks
• A whole bunch of other stuff… Try for instance double-clicking items, or drag-placing them, in the inventory

Fixes in 13w01b;

• List of issues “fixed for 1.5″
• Notable: The crash for looping comparator circuits has been fixed

Minecraft 1.2.5 Update Released Download

Well, hello again.. I haven’t posted on here for a bit of time..

What has been going on? Minecraft 1.2.5 was released.

jeb_: We are trying to update mc at the moment, but we met complications. Stand by =)

Minecraft 1.2.5

+ Added shift clicking support in furnaces
+ Added method to easily acquire blocks you have selected in the world in Creative mode using the ‘pick block’ key
* Made the Direct Connect dialog remember the last IP for the current session
* Fixed issues detected certain links in chat
* Fixed wild ocelots behaving like tamed cats
* Fixed various chat crashes
* Made cats less eager to sit on things
* Made cats less patient
* Fixed world generation failing under certain circumstances
* Fixed issues turning off sound under certain circumstances
* Removed all ghost entities under the command of Lord Herobrine
* Fixed crash when pasting certain characters in chat
* Fixed slash ‘/’ key not behaving correctly in certain environments
* Fixed command matching being too greedy (for example: typing ‘/stophammertime’ no longer stops your server)
* Fixed not being able to click coloured links
* Fixed potential issue with village door detection (which could cause too many villagers)
* Made using a stack of bowls on Mooshrooms not consume the whole stack of bowls
* Made punching a TNT block with flint and steel in hand destroy and drop a TNT block (right-clicking will activate the TNT)

These are mostly fixes but there are some cool new features, I haven’t played MC for a few versions so I have lots of new stuff to check out.. I’m pretty excited about the lack of ghosting for TNT (It has only been a year! :P) and the tracking back in chat is very handy!

We finally got around to making a two part video showing some of the new updates.. We brought Derpy Cat and Patrick along for the ride too.

Minecraft 1.2 Officially Released (1.2.3)

Hello,  How are you all? I’m ok thanks.. Been a busy week this one.

Well… What are we here for again? Ah yes.. Minecraft 1.2!

Jeb tweeted about the release of 1.2 earlier this week.

jeb_: The final step for 1.2 is to update lwjgl, but I get AccessControlExceptions when playing in browser =( Google only says “sign the jar”

jeb_: I need to get 1.2 out today, so I’m giving up on the new lwjgl stuff. I’ll try again for 1.3…

Minecraft 1.2 Blog Post

Minecraft version 1.2 (actually 1.2.1) is now officially released! Get it by updating the game in the Minecraft launcher. Features include:

• New jungle biome
• Added ocelots
• Added cats
• Added iron golems
• New AI for mobs
• Tame wolves can have puppies
• Villagers will have children if there is room in their village
• New map height limit (256 instead of 128)
• New items and blocks
• Doors have been updated so that double-doors work better with redstone
• Added rare drops for mobs
• Many other minor tweaks and fixes

In addition, the Minecraft launcher has been updated. The new launcher should properly select 64 bit Java installations for Mac OS X users. If you haven’t downloaded Minecraft yet you can grab it here:www.minecraft.net/download

Update: Uploaded Minecraft 1.2.2 because birches and pine trees were missing…

Well guys, It has taken me some time to get round to this update as I have been obsessed with Homeland and not been able to get away long enough to type this up.. I’m actually watching it as I type this 😉

Here’s the development snapshot of week 8, 2012! We’ve been a little bit busy with the LEGO trip and Mojam, so the list of changes is a bit shorter than usual:

jeb_: Up-side-down stairs are the same block as the normal stairs, but flipped when you place them on the bottom of another (from below)

jeb_: Not doing up-side-down half-slabs right now, but maybe later. Next week will be bug-fixing week for a possible 1.2 release

 jonkagstrom: Me and @jeb_ have added a new mob.. Don’t mess with the villagers.

Minecraft Snapshot 12w06a/b Download

Hello there, We are a day early today! This is because the Mojang lot are going to Lego World! 😉

But enough of that…. Lets get back to the Snapshot.

Jeb first released Minecraft 12w07a, this was then quickly replaced by 12w07b fixing a mob spawning crash bug.

Below is what Jeb had to say about it.

Here’s the development snapshot of week 7, 2012! List of changes:

• Added new world file format called “Anvil” (256 max height and 4096 block IDs*)
• Multi-player light calculations do no longer cause affected blocks to be transmitted to the clients, instead the clients will recalculate the light on their own
• Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available
• Some nights in villages will be worse than others…
• Added a redstone-controlled light source
• Decreased chance for the rare mob drops
• All animals use the new AI system now

* The game can’t use the full range of IDs yet because there are still some assumptions that IDs above 256 are items.

Update! New version number is 12w07b, fixing the following problems:

• Crash bug corrupting levels when spawning mobs above the 255th block
• Sheep animation is correct in SMP

Jeb released Minecraft Snapshot 12w06a today.

Here’s the development snapshot of week 6, 2012! List of changes:

• Many minor bug fixes and tweaks
• Doors have been changed to properly detect if they are open or closed. Double doors in existing maps will need to be updated
• Villagers will move indoors during night and rain, and socialize with each other
• Zombies will break down wooden doors on hard difficulty
• Added cat sounds
• Better movement for mobs in water
• Added rare mob item drops

Hello people,

We have another SnapShot 😀

Here’s the development snapshot of week 5, 2012! List of changes:

• Many mob-related bug fixes (and some new behaviors)
• Ocelots are easier to tame, and cats can be told to sit
• Many small bug fixes and tweaks
• Villagers will try to detect village houses and live in them
• Updated language files (now with 50% less profanities!)
