Minecraft Snapshot 12w21b Update Released

Hello there,

As you know there was no snapshot last week because of a Swedish Holiday, Just this missing chunk picture;

Please relax and rest your eyes on this picture of a chunk error instead:

But this week we have one 😀

Time for a new snapshot! One big difference this time is that you don’t need the server jar to play single-player. Also,

  • Villagers will trade items (they are cheap bastards, though!)
  • Added a “currency item”
  • A few minor terrain changes
  • A new useful block/item (requires obsidian)
  • Added a /seed command for showing the map seed
  • Added sandstone stairs
  • A lot of smaller changes and fixes

Get the 12w21b snapshot here:

If you haven’t downloaded Minecraft you can grab it here: www.minecraft.net/download

Read the Minecraft Snapshot 12w21a post on the Mojang Blog

Some of you may have noticed Snapshot 12w21a had some bugs that needed fixing.. Hence 12w21b being released. Here is some more info;

We rarely do snapshot updates to fix bugs, but since 21a contained an annoying bug that made it hard to play single-player we decided to do one this week. There are still problems, but we’re getting there!

We added a new creative mode inventory screen, please let us know what you think (target @Dinnerbone or @EvilSeph)! We also updated the language files to correct the diamond/emerald mix-up in the language files (diamonds were previously called emerald in the code, which caused a lot of confusion when we added a real emerald item). We had to ban another translator for griefing… it’s astonishing how much work some people put into these things… 🙂

Here’s the development snapshot of week 17, 2012! This week’s list of changes:

  • Bug fixing and tweaks, notably about entity collisions, “picking blocks” (creative mode), and chat
  • Some other, censored stuff

Get the snapshot here:

If you haven’t downloaded Minecraft you can grab it here: www.minecraft.net/download

You can read this on the Mojang Blog

This all sounds very exciting! Editable Books? I’m looking fwd to checking that out. I also wonder what the ‘censored stuff’ is too?

Jeb also tweeted this;

jeb_: I think this will be this week’s top FAQ: The book recipe has been changed

I’m guessing it is up-to us to work it out.. Do you think it involves in sacks?

How To Install

As always I love to stick this video in to help you guys with downloading and installing the snapshots. By the look of the comments some people are still having issues;

Minecraft Snapshot 12w16a Update Released Download

So what are we here for again? I forgot…

Ah yes.. Another snapshot..

Thanks Jeb.. There seems to be a few cool features in this one.

Here’s the development snapshot of week 16, 2012! This week’s list of changes is not as hidden as before:

  • Added a demo mode for non-premium users (won’t be available until we do a full update)
  • Added bonus chest option to create world screen
  • Added option to enable single-player commands to create world screen
  • Updated language files
  • Bug fixing and tweaks

Get the snapshot here:

If you haven’t downloaded Minecraft you can grab it here: www.minecraft.net/download

Personally I would be quite interested in seeing what these chests have to offer.. What is the chance of a diamond pickaxe or sword?

I’m also looking fwd to doing a video on the demo sometime.. Try not to die for the full hour.. Hmm.. could make a nice epic episode.. I wonder if it would be multi-player?

I think Single player commands could be handy too 🙂

You can read about the Minecraft 12w16a snapshot on the Mojang blog
