Minecraft Snapshot 12w22a Update Released

Well well, We have another Update. Jeb tweeted it out earlier today.

Snapshot time! Quick overview of changes:

• Trading with villagers has been updated
• Enchantment system has been rebalanced
• A new Redstone-activating block
• Better Creative inventory
• Pausing should work in single-player now
• Some minor terrain changes
• Added an “adventure” game mode (/gamemode 2), but requires more work
• A lot of smaller changes and fixes

I recently received an angry email about these snapshots. The complaint was that we just upload these JAR files with absolutely no information on how they are supposed to be used. This is true, and is somewhat of a legacy from how the snapshotting was started: to give previews of possibly broken features. Expert users could satisfy their curiosity, and we received invaluable feedback on work in progress.

The snapshots have gained popularity over time, though, so this information needs to be restated. The snapshots can potentially destroy your save games, even though we try our best not to do that. Only use them if you know what you are doing. To “install” a snapshot, you download the JAR file and replace the one located in your “application data” folder. The easiest way to find that folder is to start the game, select “texture packs” and click on the “open texture pack folder” button. It will locate “.minecraft/texturepacks”, and the JAR file should be placed in “.minecraft/bin”.

To UNINSTALL the snapshot, start the launcher (Minecraft.exe on Windows) and click the “options” button. Then click on “force update” and login as usual. The launcher will then download the official JAR file for you. Note that save games created in the snapshot may not work (and probably doesn’t) in the official version of the game.

We have a little extra for you here, You ever seen Ghasts in the overworld? Well me and Mangler heard some ‘whinny cat’ noises and went exploring.. This is what we found 😀

I tried to get them to spawn like this before but I had no luck.. Maybe I needed more lava.

Well I had to do it really.. I checked out the Beta 1.9 Pre-Release…

I mainly did it for the Snowman but did end up going exploring too.

I found a new nether mob, some new items, the updated swamp biomes along with a lovely ravine.. Sadly no NPC’s.. Maybe next time hey..

M1neTube Play iPuzzle 1.3 By Chri5flame

Hello everyone,

That is all the 1.8 videos out the way for now.. I have a feeling there will be some 1.9 ones soon but for now we have a great puzzle map for you.

A fan of ours Chri5flame made this great map and submitted it to us some time ago, we finally got around to playing it on version 1.3. I really enjoyed it and thought the jokes were great!

I decided I would pick out what I feel are the most interesting ones;

• New Endermanmob.
  • They take damage from water.
  • They emit purple smoke particles.
  • They drop Ender Pearls.
  • They open their mouth when hostile/looked at.
• New Silverfishmob.
  • Will spawn from rarely generated blocks, that look identical to stone, or stone bricks.
• New Cave Spidermob.
  • They spawn in Abandoned Mine Shafts.
  • Their attacks are venomous, and turn the player’s health yellow upon being poisoned (will not kill you but will make you lose 4 health bars, if you are below 4 health bars then it will bring you down to heart).
  • Have a unique mob spawner.
  • They are smaller than regular spiders.
• Nine new blocks & crafting recipes; Stone Brick (slabs and stairs), Brick Slabs & Stairs, Fence Gates, Glass Panes (You can pick these up when broken), Iron bars, Melons, Melon Seed

• New Creative game mode
  • Flying by double tapping [SPACE]
  • Unlimited resources
  • A new screen, the Unlimited Item Selection screen

• Optional Structures
  • NPC Villages with farms and “town borders” (containing houses mainly made of wood and cobble along with farms and other interesting bits and pieces
  • Strongholds; these are found underground and often have chests etc in. these are made with the new blocks mentioned above (they only spawn three times on a single map)
  • Abandoned Mine Shafts containing spiderweb, railtracks and chests (We found two diamond in one of these!)
  • Underground Ravines including canyons on the surface and ledges to walk on.
• Rivers flowing through/in between biomes.
• Ocean Biomes, that are deeper and much more vast than before.
• Mountain biome.
• Swamp biome, which is the only biome to generate vines on trees. Mushrooms are more commonly generated here as well.
• Clay is now much more abundant
• Snow in Taiga and Tundra biomes does not generate for technical reasons. They will return in Beta 1.9

• New combat Mechanics.
  • Hold-to-charge bows. (3 charge states, full charge allows the player to strafe it seems)
  • Critical hits (When the player hits a mob while jumping or hit with a fully charged bow)
  • Player blocking attack animation and hostile mob attack animations.
  • Mobs killed by the player drop tiny flashing Experience Orbs that add to your experience bar.

• New Food System.
  • Food no longer heals directly but indirectly: if the food meter is above 80%, heals about every 5 seconds. (Food meter bar)
  • All food (except Mushroom Stew) is stackable
  • Food takes 1.6 seconds to consume, accompanied with an amazing animation.
  • 5 new food items, Melon Slices, Raw & Cooked Chicken, Raw & Cooked Beef, Steak (when cooked it has old cooked pork texture)
  • Eating any raw food or Rotten Flesh has a chance to give the player food poisoning.
• Sprinting: By double pressing the forward button, the player will move faster.
  • Sprinting is limitless, but will deplete your hunger bar.
  • Hitting a mob or Mangler while sprinting sends them flying.
  • Jumping while sprinting boosts the jump to a length of about 4 blocks.
  • Sprinting makes particles come up from the ground. (looks kinda retarded)
  • While sprinting, the field of view slightly increases.

• Mob changes
  • Passive mobs will randomly flee if attacked by the player or other mobs (such as Wolves) – Runaway sheep!
  • Zombies drop Rotten Flesh instead of Feathers.
  • The snout on pigs now protrude from their head.
  • Skeletons now hold full-size bows.
• There is loads of other stuff but I am bored of typing now so you can watch the video to see it.. 😀
